Automotive Replacement Glass
Frequently Asked Questions
What type of coverage is needed to replace my windshield? Comprehensive coverage is required for windshield replacements. If you have comprehensive coverage, windshield replacement is the only claim for which you may not be charged a deductible in the State of Florida. How do I know if the damage can be repaired or if my windshield needs to be replaced? If your windshield damage is smaller than the size of a quarter, it may qualify for repair.
Will my insurance rates go up if I get my windshield replaced? No, your insurance rates should not increase due to auto glass replacement. Insurance companies do not factor glass claims by themselves into the equation when determining your risk assignment or your insurance rates. Unlike accidents, windshield replacements are comprehensive claims that you have no control over. To be sure however, check your policy or call your agent.
Will all insurance companies waive my deductible if my windshield is repaired or replaced? Florida law requires this waiver by your insurance company to encourage drivers to immediately replace damaged windshields (applies to Florida policies only).

This means that our glass is essentially the same piece of glass that is installed at the time your vehicle is made, with the only difference possibly being the windshield manufacturer.
How long will my repair or replacement take? It depends on the make and model of your vehicle. In many cases, windshield repairs can be performed in 30 minutes or less. Because of the complexity of some vehicles, windshield replacements could take as long as 3 hours. However, most vehicles require about an hour to an hour and a half to properly install the windshield.
Will I have to wait with my vehicle? It is not necessary to wait with your vehicle. However, please have your car keys available for the technician.
Does my vehicle need to be in a covered area? Inclement weather makes installations difficult without cover. If possible, please have shelter available.
How long will it be before I can safely drive my vehicle? This will depend on temperature and humidity at the time of installation. Urethanes rely on temperature and humidity to cure. This time frame can range from 1 hour up to 24 hours before your vehicle will meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and is considered safe to drive. Our technicians use the best materials available on the market and in most cases you will be safe to drive in 2 hours. In any case, it's imperative that you follow instructions regarding safe drive-away times. Not adhering to those instructions could result in your injury or even death. Our technicians will advise you in writing of your safe drive-away time.
Will any part of my vehicle be harmed during the repair or replacement process? No, your vehicle should not be damaged during the repair or replacement process. If necessary, precautionary measures, such as protective drapes, will be taken to ensure that no damage occurs during your auto glass service.
What's the difference between my windshield and the other glass in my car? Auto glass is designed and manufactured for optimum safety in the event of a crash. Your windshield is made of laminated safety glass. Laminated safety glass consists of two pieces of glass with a layer of specially formulated vinyl sandwiched between, so it will stay intact in a collision. The side and rear windows are usually made of tempered glass, which has been heat treated to make it much stronger than other glass of the same thickness. If it breaks, it is designed to shatter into small pieces. For some newer vehicles, car manufacturers sometimes use laminated glass for side windows to improve sound insulation and/or chasis strength.
Will you replace the stickers on my windshield? Our trained technicians will attempt to remove all affixed stickers and items from your windshield for application to the new piece of glass. In some cases your stickers may need to be replaced due to voiding upon removal.
How does the repair process work? Moisture and contamination is drawn out of the break. The void created is then filled with liquid resin. The resin is then cured with ultraviolet light. The permanent high-bonding strength of the resin seals cracks and breaks and prevents them from spreading.
Will the chip or crack still be visible after the repair has been completed? A windshield chip or crack repair is used to prevent further damage to your glass and to restore the structural integrity of the vehicle. In some cases the repair cannot be seen, however, there is a possibility that slight imperfections may still be visible.
